Student Accommodation Services

Student Accommodation Services (SAS) is a joint venture between Residential Services and the Students' Union aimed at assisting students looking for accommodation in the private sector.

SAS provides a number of different services in order to help students find their off campus accommodation and landlords find tenants.

Managed Property Scheme

SAS manages over 100 properties in the popular areas of Brynmill, Uplands and Sandfields ranging from 1-10 bedrooms. In these properties SAS acts as the landlord, providing students with a Residence Licence Agreement, manages the students fees and are first point of contact regarding maintenance and repairs. This enables students to live independently in the private sector with the comfort of dealing with the University directly. These properties are normally let on a 47 week contract for undergraduates and 51 week contracts for postgraduates.  Properties are banded (A*-D) based on set criteria such as quality of kitchen, bathroom and decor. Rent levels are therefore appropriate for the quality of the property.

Tenant Find Service

SAS operates a tenant find service for a number of landlords. Within this service SAS markets the properties, undertakes viewings, sets up contracts and takes any initial payments (usually retainers). Students then deal directly with landlords for deposit payment, rent payments and maintenance issues.

Advertised Service

SAS advertises approximately 250 student properties online for private landlords at www.swanseastudentpad.co.uk, a facility accessible to Swansea University students only. All properties on this site are registered with the City and County of Swansea and comply with the recommended minimum quality and facility guidelines.
