Swansea Trotters

An official Alumni club for graduates of Swansea University’s Athletic and Cross Country Club & Triathlon Club has been established, branded Swansea Trotters.

Donning your Universities colours and representing your athletic union signifies an integral component of University life for many students at Swansea University, this is not an experience that should be shelved and forgotten after your university days. This concern was the driving force behind the formulation of the Swansea Trotters alumni association.

The goal set out by the alumni organisations committee is to rekindle friendships through organising reunion events, to dig up the history and development of the clubs, and to provide a support network for the current members of our university teams. The alumni organistation has been established by Steven Jones, Rachel Arnold and Wayne Taylor.

Steven Jones says "For many of us the Athletics and Cross Country Club represents an integral component of our time spent at Swansea University, whether it be competing in the local Gwent and West Glam Cross Country Leagues, BUCS weekends away, or the not so competitive Wednesday night AU socials, annual Edinburgh trip, and Chunder mile. With these fond memories in mind and the desire to uphold and develop relations with fellow alumni and current students lies the inspiration behind the founding of Swansea Trotters."

The biggest difficulty faced within this process is discovering and gathering information on past members, as a significant number had graduated before the committee members had enrolled at the University.

The hope is to trace the clubs roots to its foundation through reconnecting with graduates from both clubs, using the Swansea Trotters website as the projects hub.
