Swansea Trotters Vs Swansea University Running & Triathlon Team 5k Road Race and Awards Meal

On the 10th of March Swansea Trotters in association with Swansea University Athletics & Cross Country & Triathlon Clubs have organised a 5k road race at Swansea Bay. The race will start at 1.00pm opposite the University Athletics tracks. The aim is to make this an annual event, keeping track of the overall winning team score throughout the years to come.

Meal in the evening, here we will give out awards for, 1st place male & female, and announce the winner of the overall team score, and I’m sure we will think of others. For those who want to we will then head into Wind Street.

The Welsh Varsity Challenge: 2 May 2012

The Welsh Varsity Challenge, now approaching its sixteenth year, is the biggest student event in Wales and is the second largest of the British Varsity Games, behind the Oxford/Cambridge game. Swansea University has won ten of the fifteen encounters, and drawn one of them.

The match itself is the culmination of a day-long competition that sees the universities competing for the Varsity Shield in over 25 different sports, from basketball, golf, and hockey to fencing, squash and even Ultimate Frisbee.

The Welsh Varsity Challenge rugby match will take place in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Wednesday 2nd May 2012. Further details on tickets and hospitality packages will be posted soon.

Old Boys & Girls Hockey Reunion: 5 May 2012

The next 'UWS' Old Boys & Girls Hockey reunion will take place on 5th May 2012.

The event has become a hugely popular sporting and social feature of the calendar. With it being held in the same week as The Welsh Varsity Challenge, this should prove to be bigger and better than previous years.

The Survivors Reunion (Former students of 1933-1960): 6 September 2012

This year's Survivors reunion will be held at Sketty Hall on Thursday 6 September.

The reunions of former students, 1933-1960, have acquired the well earned designation of 'The Survivors Reunions'. This particular set of reunions started initially as a reunion of the Men's Hockey Team members for the period 1945-51, and then gradually expanded to include the Ladies Hockey Team, then all the Faculties, covering the period 1933 - 1953.

There has always been a strong contingent of 1945 and wartime period ex-service members who really are the 'survivors', having returned to college, as it was in 1945-46, as Forces Education and Training Grant Students (F.E.T.) after the rigours of their wartime experience.

The reunions were originally organised by Canon Reverend Ivor Llewellyn Davies and in 1999, when Canon Rev. Davies was 76, he passed the baton to Tom Conway, Lieutenant-Commander Royal Naval Reserve (Retired). Now the Alumni Office organises the reunions.

Engineering Graduates of 1967: 8 September 1967

Nirmal Choubey and Roger Edwards are co-ordinating a reunion for those who graduated in Engineering in 1967.

It is to be held on Saturday 8 September on campus.

Reunion of Clynians 1962-66

On the weekend of 21-23 September 2012 there will be a reunion of Clyne Hall residents (and friends) from the period 1962-66. It is more or less 50 years since attending university and the half century will be celebrated at Llangennith in the Gower. The Kings Head has been booked for the weekend and, all the rooms are filled, it should cost each couple around £300, including a set dinner on Saturday evening but paying for your own meal on Friday evening. The basic plan is to arrive Friday afternoon and leave Sunday midday.
