John Minkes has been a lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at UWS since January 1999. Prior to that, he worked as a probation officer in London, Swindon and Cardiff, a social worker for people with learning difficulties in Bridgend, and a researcher and lecturer at the Universities of Cardiff and Bristol and the Open University. He is currently Programme Director for undergraduate criminology programmes and Admissions Tutor for the MA in Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology and teaches modules on criminal justice, corporate crime and prisons. His main research interests are youth justice, corporate crime and the history of the probation service and the criminal justice system. In recent years, he has worked on research into the history of the probation service in rural mid-Wales, with Professor Leonard Minkes on the need for interdisciplinary work in the study of corporate and white collar crime, and on comparative youth justice.
