Dr. Wendy Ball - Centre for Social Work and Social Carework Research

BSc(Hons) (Aston); MSc (Aston); PhD (University of Wales)

Wendy joined the research staff at CSCR in November 2007 and is a member of the team exploring Social Care Research Capacity and Priorities in Wales. Wendy was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations, University of Warwick for several years before moving on to lectureships in sociology at the Universities of Warwick, Leeds, Wolverhampton and University College Worcester.  

Wendy has worked on various funded research projects in the area of race equality, local governance and education. Her research and teaching interests lie in the areas of qualitative research methods, race and gender divisions, family lives, and educational studies. In 2002 Wendy came to Swansea as a postgraduate research student in sociology and she was awarded her PhD in 2007. This research explored childcare policy and service delivery in Wales following devolution and involved ethnographic fieldwork with families with young children in Swansea.
