R.V. Noctiluca

The Biological Sciences research vessel R.V. Noctiluca is used extensively for marine research and training as part of our degree programmes, and is also available for charter.

The twin-hulled design combines speed, manoeuvrability and efficiency with a flexible work platform. With a range of 500 nautical miles when cruising at 16 knots, the vessel is able to operate offshore for several days. There is on-board bunk accommodation for four with cooking facilities, WC and shower. The wide aft deck and A-frame allows operation of trawling and grab gear, and smaller instruments and samplers can be deployed between the hulls. The Noctiluca is suitable for a wide variety of scientific tasks ranging from hydrographic assessment to trawling and other forms of bottom sampling throughout the Bristol Channel and Irish Sea.

Daily charter rates are available upon request. For more details contact Mr Keith Naylor (k.naylor@swansea.ac.uk)
