Turtle Tracking Northern Australia
We are currently tracking olive ridley turtles in Northern Australia as part of a collaborative project between Swansea University, Dhimurru Land Management and Aboriginal Corporation (DLMAC), Parks and Wildlife Service of the Northern Territory (PWS), Charles Darwin University (CDU), University of Adelaide, Carpentaria Ghost Nets Programme (CGNP), Govets Veterinary Clinic (GVC) and Northern Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (Nailsma).
An initial track is shown below right.
Tracks A-D below left from: McMahon CR, Bradshaw CJA, Hays GC (2007). Satellite tracking reveals unusual diving characteristics for a marine reptile, the olive ridley turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea). Marine Ecology Progress Series 329, 239-252.
