The IGG was founded in 1987 with the following objectives: 1. To provide a forum for informal discussion of - the scientific and technical aspects of genetic toxicology tests required by Regulatory Authorities - the overall test strategy - new tests under development and their successful validation 2. To co-ordinate collaborative work as needed to support the objects listed in 1. above 3. Representation by the committee or committee nominees of the general interests of industrial genetic toxicology laboratories in discussions with other scientific groups and regulatory authorities The IGG is managed by a committee consisting of officers-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer- and 4 ordinary members. |

Dear Colleague, The next meeting will be held on Monday 17 December 2001 at the RSM, London from 10.00 to 16.00. The topic will be the Comet assay and a provisional programme is enclosed. Please let Brian Burlinson, Julie Clements or me know if you or a colleague would like to contribute. No reasonable offer refused. A registration form and map are enclosed. Registration by 7th December please. The cost will be £50 per person, and Brian has asked if we can pay by UK cheques, or he is willing to accept cash on the day. Change to constitution At the AGM on 24 May 2001, a change to the constitution was proposed and accepted. The previous wording was: "Any future committee should reflect the diverse interests of this industrial group to the extent that it should contain at least four members from industrial manufacturing companies." The new wording is: "Any future committee should reflect the diverse interests of this industrial group." New committee members We have three nominees, who have shown remarkable patience and are still willing to stand for the two vacancies on the committee. In order to make the numbers right, and to avoid two people from the same company being on the committee, Brian Burlinson will stand down, but will continue as treasurer (co-opted) until his term of office ends at the AGM next year.
