The Centre for Egyptology and Mediterranean Archaeology (CEMA)
The Centre for Egyptology and Mediterranean Archaeology undertakes research on ancient Egypt and the archaeology of the Mediterranean in classical antiquity.
Swansea has had historic links with the study of Egyptology from the nineteenth century through Sir Gardner Wilkinson. The disciplines of Egyptology and Classics have been linked in the university since the 1960s, and the research centre will further develop these associations to explore the interplay between Egypt and the classical world.
