Mathematics is an essential tool in almost all computing technologies, and examples include computer security, safety critical systems, and graphical modelling. Mathematics has offered solutions to many fundamental problems in Computer Science and will continue to do so.

Mathematics for Computer Science is a three-year programme, providing an integrated education in those aspects of Mathematics which underpin current and future developments of Computer Science and its applications. It is designed for mathematically able students who are interested in the underlying Mathematics and theory of Computer Science, although it still includes a strong practical education.

Mathematics for Computer Science is made up of about 50% Computer Science and 50% Mathematics.
