Welcome to DACE!

Welcome to the many exciting opportunities for study.

Welcome to DACE

Welcome to the many exciting opportunities for study.

We hope to encourage you to take up a new interest or indulge a favourite topic of study. More than anything, we want to make sure there is something for everyone and that you will talk to us if you need help deciding what to do. Every year, around 6,000 students pass through DACE. Some students pursue subjects with a definite purpose in mind, such as a change of career or a new academic course of study while others develop new interests. Whatever the reason, you are assured of an interesting group of fellow students, from all walks of life. You are also assured a welcome from a highly committed and enthusiastic group of tutors.

The wide geographical spread of course locations reflects our commitment to widen participation in adult education. Courses have been organised in Communities First areas to make it easier for people living there to join classes. We also offer an advice and guidance service for any prospective students, designed to help you make the right choice of study. For free and confidential guidance and advice, call Jane Lingard on +44 (0)1792 602211 to discuss course options and any support needs or concerns you may have.

DACE will be delivering a Prepare for the BA Humanities programme at the University Campus and in community venues during the next academic year.  Students will have the opportunity of studying two academic subjects and a module on study skills to prepare themselves for further study either full time or on the part-time BA Humanities scheme or on various HE Certificates run by DACE.

The part-time degree is offered on campus and in community venues - The Phoenix Centre, Townhill; The Black Mountain Centre, Brynamman; Neath Port Talbot College, Queen Street, Neath; Banwen in the Dulais Valley; Stebonheath in Llanelli; YMCA in Port Talbot; Coleg Pontardawe and Narberth in Pembrokeshire.  Evening provisions are in Llandybie, Glynneath, Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest.

Our programme of courses has been designed to be flexible with regard to time as well as location, so you can study in the daytime or evening to suit your lifestyle. We aim to offer you clear opportunities for progression and hope you will consider other programmes of study within DACE and within Swansea University. DACE students come from many different backgrounds and experiences, and it is this diversity and cross-fertilisation of ideas that we celebrate.  Our  aim is to provide something for everyone and if not we are always ready to listen to your ideas.
