How to choose a course

How to choose a course

Before you look at the courses on offer in your area, there are two important things you should consider:

Choose the right level.

All courses are now named in accordance with the national progression framework for Welsh for Adults which consists of 5 levels:

Entry English Foundation English
Intermediate English Advanced English
Proficiency English

Choose the right pace.

The best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it, so you should consider going for a course with the most contact hours that you can devote your time to. As a beginner, you have the option of working at a leisurely pace on courses meeting once a week or a more intensive programme with two classes a week (or 3 a week from January – June). Courses meeting once a week usually cover one of the above levels over two years (3 years at Uwch/Advanced) and the more intensive courses cover a level per year. The two paths usually merge as you progress to the higher levels. If you wish to learn to communicate effectively in a short period of time, then the highly intensive Mynediad Plus course which meets for 4 mornings a week is the course for you .

Use the course finder to choose the right level, the right pace and the best location to suit your requirements.
