The Economics Department is delighted that four of its students came third in the final of the IBM Universities Business Challenge 2004/2005. The Business Challenge gives teams, of up to five members, the chance to work as Managerial Consultants in a fictional company, making all the critical business decisions that affect the company. Over 100 teams take part each year from 50 universities and over the last two years, teams from the Department have beaten teams from universities including Cambridge and Oxford. The competition is designed to help students improve their decision-making skills, develop their team-working abilities and increase their knowledge of key business areas such as marketing, finance and production.
