Coastline of South-West Wales

The diversity and beauty of the coastline of South-West Wales is renowned.

The open Pembrokeshire coast is dominated by tide and wave-exposed rocky cliffs and promontories alternating with sandy bays and coves. Rugged offshore islands are also represented.

Milford Haven is sheltered and estuarine in character, rocky in part, but with numerous muddy bays and creeks.

Further east lies the broad sweep of Carmarthen Bay with its extensive sandy beaches and muddy estuaries.

Next comes the Gower Peninsula, comparable to the open Pembrokeshire coast in terms of the diversity of features represented.
