Taught Masters Degrees
The Department currently offers a number of one-year Masters degrees that reflect our areas of research strength and expertise. They consist of 120 credits of taught modules followed by a 60 credit research project/dissertation:
- MSc Environmental Dynamics and Climate Change
- MSc Geographic Information and Climate Change
- MA Human Geography
- MA Global Migration
Master of Research Degrees
These new one year Master of Research (MRes) degrees offers an excellent platform for students who wish to pursue a PhD at a later stage. The degree consists of 60 credits of taught modules followed by a 120 credit research project/dissertation:
MSc by Research Degrees
The Department is offering a range of new postgraduate research degrees. The MSc by Research enables students to pursue a one year individual programme of research. This degree could, however, be used in a progression to Year 2 of a PhD degree. Being nominally a one year degree, this is distinct from an MPhil which is a two year degree. Current MSc by Research degrees include:
- MSc by Research in Earth Observation
- MSc by Research in Environmental Dynamics
- MSc by Research in Glaciology
- MSc by Research in Global Environmental Modelling
- MSc by Research in Global Migration
- MSc by Research in Media Geographies
- MSc by Research in Social Theory and Space
- MSc by Research in Urban Studies
