Laptops can be borrowed from the Issue Desk for a 2 week loan period. Only current students can use this service – it is not available to staff. They can be reserved by asking Issue Desk staff or ringing 01792 295178, and your student id number will be added to the reservation list. It is not possible, however, to reserve a laptop if you currently have one on loan. Laptops cannot be renewed and if they are returned late there is a £10 fine per day.
What can I access using the laptops?
Software includes : MS Office, EndNote, CD Writing software, Internet Explorer. Each laptop comes with a password and instructions for accessing the Swansea Wireless network. You will not be able to see your P drive directly but you can link to it via the Internet (see our guide: Student P Drive (remote) ). Make sure you save your work either to your P drive or a USB as anything saved to the hard drive of the laptop will be wiped once it is returned to the library. You can print using the wireless printer in the Study Hall.
Terms and conditions
On borrowing a laptop for the first time you will be required to complete a laptop form. You will have to fill in your personal details : name address and student id. You will also be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement if the laptop is damaged, lost or stolen whilst in your possession.
