The College of Medicine is home to Swansea University's undergraduate genetics, biochemistry and related programmes

Single Honours degree programmes
Joint Honours degree programme
- BSc Genetics and Biochemistry
The joint programme comprises roughly 50% each of the two single honours programmes
Employability
Recent employability figures show that 90 - 100% of our graduates with these degrees are in full-time employment or further study within six months of graduation (HESA data).
Training to be a Doctor - Graduate Entry Medicine
Assuming you have UK nationality or residency, with one of these degrees you would in due course be eligible to apply for the Graduate Entry Medicine Programme (GEM) at Swansea University. This application process should be started in the second year of your BSc undergraduate degree, and you would need to fulfil the GEM criteria to gain an interview and offer. This is a separate competitive process which is quite independent from gaining admission to the BSc courses. Many of our students who decided to follow this career path have successfully gone on to study Graduate Entry Medicine.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Scholarships reward academic success and are paid over the first two years of the programme. There is no separate application procedure but you MUST make Swansea your Firm Choice (CF or UF) to qualify.
Excellence Scholarships - AAA at A-Level (or equivalent): £ 3,000
Merit Scholarships - AAB at A-Level (or equivalent): £ 2,000
Further details of Scholarships
Income-related Bursaries depend on household income.
All our degrees count as “Priority Subjects” giving an additional £1,500 p.a. on top of the basic bursary.
