Parking on Campus
Parking on the University campus is restricted and used by both visitors and staff. Parking for conferences and other events is limited to a maximum of 150 cars at any one time. Car parking for delegates is available on a first-come, first-served basis, in the main entrance car park (Car Park 2) to the right of the pay and display visitor car park, adjacent to the University main entrance. For residential conferences during the vacation periods, preference is given to resident delegates. Non-resident delegates may be asked to park off campus (see below). Disabled delegates with a ‘disabled’ badge on their car windscreen may park in any of the specially marked spaces around the campus. On arrival, resident delegates are recommended to drive up to the residences to drop off their luggage. They must then park their cars in Car Park 2.
A notice must be displayed clearly from the inside of each vehicle. These can be collected from the gatekeepers at the University main entrance or the residence reception desk.
If the main car park fills to capacity there is overspill parking nearby; about 2 minutes walk to the west of the campus (attended 9.00-17.00, charge made of £2.20 per day or £1.20 per afternoon) or 7 minutes walk to the east side, (normally unattended, no charge made during vacations). Vehicles can later be moved to Car Park 2 for overnight stay. If you leave the campus during your event and Car Park 2 is full when you return you will have to park in the overflow off-campus car parks. Delegates may also use the pay and display car park, which is on the immediate right-hand side of the University entrance. Parking in unauthorised areas will result in the car being clamped. There is currently a £25 de-clamping fee.
