The University’s vision is to be a research-led University of international quality.
The University's Mission is as follows:
Swansea University will provide an environment of research excellence, with research being undertaken that is internationally recognised and that informs all other activities at the University. Swansea University will deliver an outstanding student experience, with teaching of the highest quality, that produces graduates equipped for distinguished personal and professional achievement. The University community will be a powerhouse for growth in the regional economy, and will greatly enrich the community and cultural life of Wales. It will contribute to the health, leisure and well-being of citizens in South West Wales and beyond.
It is essential that the University recruits and retains staff of the highest quality and motivates them to deliver its mission through robust recruitment processes and sound performance management in the context of an equal opportunities framework.
The Recruitment and Selection Procedures have been revised in line with the developments through the HR Strategy and the Vice-Chancellor's vision for the University, the Equal Opportunities Policy Action Plan and have been worked into an extensive and comprehensive guidance document for all staff involved in the Recruitment and Selection Procedure within the University. This guidance will enable the most effective recruitment and selection of staff to Swansea University and assist the University to achieve its mission.
The new online recruitment system is due to Go Live on 22 February 2012
There will be no recruitment between Friday 10 February and the launch of the new system so we are expecting some delays and backlogs for which we can only apologise and give as much advanced notice as possible.
If you have any queries about the implemetation process please contact Julie Jones, Project Manager on 01792 602833 or email j.c.jones@swansea.ac.uk
The recruitment office is an extremely busy small team, processing over 300 vacancies per year for the University. Please notify us as soon as you identify a vacancy to reduce delays in the process and please be aware of the following deadlines when planning your Recruitment exercise.
Please note that during the implementation period the following timescales may be difficult to meet due to the team being taken out of the office for training and testing and preparation work before the Go Live.
From the point that the post is approved (ie the Recruitment team receive an authorised L6666) the turnaround time will be:
To grade a post - 10 working days. If there is insufficient information and grading is not possible a Role Analyst will contact you within 10 days for further information.
To advertise a post once the grade has been established and the L6666 approval received- 5 working days. This is to check the details and format the advertisement. If there is any information missing then a member of the Recruitment Team will be in touch with you within 5 working days.
To close a support staff post - a minimum of 2 weeks from the day of posting the advert. This may be just over 2 weeks because all posts close on a Thursday. You can choose to advertise for longer than 2 weeks but not for a shorter period of time. For all Academic posts on grade 7 and above there is a requirement to advertise the post for a minimum of 4 weeks, this is essential to comply with new Border and Immigration Agency requirements.
