Part-time study:

Postgraduate students in Economics have access to state-of-the-art research facilities. The University Library is excellent and maintains a full range of research resources for economists, many of which are available online.

There is a centrally administered computer network offering users not only a wide range of software applications, but also high-speed connections to the SuperJANET UK academic network and to the Internet.

Two teaching laboratories with state-of-the-art PCs are maintained in the Department for use in teaching and practical workshops.

A study room, similarly equipped with high-powered PCs, is also available for exclusive use by postgraduates in the Department.

Standard Entry requirements

Applicants for the PhD must hold a Masters degree in Economics or a related subject.

Research

The Department of Economics provides supervised research for postgraduate study leading to a PhD.

 The PhD degree involves a minimum of two years’ research.

All students taking PhDs will normally be expected to enter the doctoral programme operated jointly by the School of Business and Economics.

The current research work of the department covers a broad range of theoretical and applied economics.
