Full time study: 1 year full-time study

Part-time study: Between 2 and 5 years

Students engage in a period of supervised research leading to the production of a thesis which is then presented for oral examination.  The academic expertise in the School is wide-ranging and supervision may be undertaken in areas such as Criminal Law and Evidence, Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Public and Administrative Law, European law, Commercial Law, Shipping Law, Public International Law, Ethics and Philosophy and Socio-Legal studies.

Standard Entry requirements

Candidates are normally required to have an outstanding Masters degree preferably in law. In exceptional cases applicants without a Masters qualification may be accepted if they have an outstanding initial degree.

The School has particular strengths in the fields of shipping, charterparties and bills of lading, international trade, international commercial law and arbitration, e-commerce, documentary credits, international banking and economic law, insolvency, credit and security, legal theory, global law, international law, European law, environmental law, criminal law and evidence, human rights law, public and administrative law, ethics and philosophy and socio legal studies.
