Inks and Coatings Rheology Network Hosted by the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating The objective of the Inks and Coatings Rheology Network is to promote the technology transfer between Academia and Industry. The network runs regular colloquia with the aim of increasing the understanding of rheology, to show-case new and interesting work and to obtain new perspectives on the problems associate with the printing and coating industry. Colloquia enable the informal presentation of the latest research and development with ample opportunity for discussion. The network covers all physical aspects of the printing and coating, as rheology impacts through out the process. The colloquia are open forum. As well as invited keynote speakers, technical presentation at the colloquia are accepted on the basis of an extended abstract, approximately 500 words plus key figures. Each author is allowed approximately 30 minutes for presentation, including questions. The papers should be based on research activity, industrial projects and problem areas. Papers of a solely commercial/promotional nature are not deemed appropriate. Presentations should be made in “Power point”, provided 1 week in advance to the WCPC for installation on host pc. These are provided as pdf’s on a cd to all delegates. The network also sponsors dedicated tracks on inks and coating rheology in the biennial International Conference on Manufacture by Printing. The Inks and Coatings rheology network was established in 1998 with the financial support of the EPSRC. It is run by the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating as a non-profit making activity. Membership of the network is free, but a small charge is levied for each colloquia to cover refreshments, handouts, room hire and direct support for the event.
