The Academic Registry is an important administrative department within the University. It is headed by the Academic Registrar and has seven sub-divisions: Examinations, International Exchange & Partnership, Postgraduate Research, Quality, Student Liaison, Taught Programmes, and Welsh Language.
It is responsible for managing a number of strategic functions within the central administration, including:
- the organisation of the University examinations;
- the organisation of the Degree and Award Ceremonies;
- supporting the University's five Faculties;
- overseeing and developing the University's quality assurance and quality enhancement procedures;
- developing and overseeing the administrative systems for postgraduate research students;
- servicing Committees of Enquiry that consider cases of unfair practice, unprofessional conduct or disciplinary cases;
- supporting Erasmus exchange students;
- administering applications for US Federal Loans;
- developing academic regulations and procedures;
- supporting the external examiners;
- servicing a number of academic and non-academic related committees;
- and, more importantly, advising students and staff on academic-related regulatory and administrative issues.
