How each module is assessed is highlighted in the module outline in the module catalogue. For further information please refer to the Study Abroad Handbook.
Please note:
Assessment will vary between and within Departments.
When you are selecting a module from the catalogue it will state the type of assessment that the module involves (essay / exam or combination of both) and the module outline. Please only choose modules that you are able to complete all the assessment criteria for. See below for details.
It is the student’s responsibility to confirm the dates for essays deadlines and exams.
Guidance will be given at orientation and there is a two week add/ drop period at the beginning of each semester when students will be able to change modules if necessary.
Fall Semester Students
Traditionally students visiting Swansea University in the Fall will be assessed by essay which MUST be submitted prior to departure at the end of term. However, students enrolled on modules in the following departments must be physically present in Swansea to sit the examinations in January:
Engineering
Computer Science
Mathematics
Spring Semester Students
Students attending classes at Swansea University in the spring will be required to submit essays by the course deadlines and / or sit exams during the designated exam period in May / June.
If there is an exam set relating to the module, the student MUST sit the exam andMUST NOT negotiate an alternative with their tutor. If a student needs to return home during or before this exam period (e.g. for summer school) DO NOT ENROL on this module, choose one which requires essay assessment only.
If exam assessment is not required by a Department, students are free to leave once teaching has ended and they have completed all Departmental coursework requirements.
