Gilman Awards
Gilman makes awards of up to $5,000 per student for participation in programmes from 4-weeks to a year in length. They do not, however, make awards for summer study. While their policy is to favour applicants studying in non-traditional locations, they are still interested in applicants intending to study in Western Europe and approximately 30% of the total awards go to students studying in that region. Last year 777 awards were made and the ratio of applicants to scholarships was quite good. Approximately one in three or four applicants were successful. They particularly welcomes applications from students from under-represented groups.
