School of Business & Economics: Research

The School is committed to the pursuit of internationally excellent research and staff expertise encompasses a broad range of topics. In the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise the School made submissions to the Business and Management Studies subject panel and the Economics and Econometrics subject panel. The School submitted 40 staff for assessment. In the case of Business and Management Studies 85 per cent of the School’s research has been deemed to be of an international standard, with 40 per cent assessed as world leading or of internationally excellent quality. In Economics and Econometrics 100 percent of the School’s research has been deemed to be of an international standard, with 60 per cent assessed as world leading or of internationally excellent quality. Several Research Groups help provide a natural focus for research development and funding and support is provided by our Doctoral Programme.

A Discussion Papers Series in Economics is also produced.
