Dr. Antje Cockrill

Specialist Subjects: International and Strategic marketing

I was appointed as lecturer in Marketing at the School of Business and Economics in 2001. Previously, I have worked for several years as researcher, information officer and project manager, lastly at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Cardiff . My first degree is a Magister (Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universität Frankfurt), and I hold a Master’s degree and a PhD (1996) from Aberystwyth University.  My doctor thesis investigated marketing management practices in German and British university libraries.  Previously I have also worked in the public sector and financial services. My academic work has been published in a wide range of journals, and has been presented at a number of international conferences.

My current research interests focus on consumer behaviour, e-marketing, music retailing and consumption. I am particularly interested in ‘unusual’ types of consumer behaviour, such as brand piracy, counterfeiting and digital piracy. The latter issue also led a growing interest in the legal and illegal aspects (downloading, copying) of music consumption and retailing. I am also involved in a project that explores the ‘addictiveness’ of electronic consumer goods such as MP3 players. Another area of research interest is quantitative methodology, especially more advanced methods of multivariate analysis.
