Undergraduate
Translation studies information for the Undergraduate student.
The BA Translation is a four-year programme that allows you to study two languages in a Single Honours degree scheme. The programme allows you to gain proficiency in these languages, acquire the technical skills you need as a translator, and lay the foundations for theoretical work with translation. The number of students in the programme has gradually increased since the degree was first offered in 2002/03. We now have about twelve students each year. If your first language is English, you choose two source languages from which you translate (mainly) into English. The languages available are French, German, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and Welsh. Some languages can also be studied without prior knowledge of it (ab initio) if they are Language 2.
