What we do
Provide professional Front of House and Special Projects services across the University
VIP liaison at Graduations and Inaugurations, the Honorary Fellows Programme and major events such as the opening of Bay Campus.
Drive and administer the Service Excellence campaigns for GA, including Investors in People (IIP) and the Cabinet Office Customer Service Excellence (CSE) accreditations
Support special projects for the University, such as the University Centenary Campaign events
Lead on the management and provision of office procedures, financial management processes and HR processes and systems for Global Advancement.
Elizabeth Shouaib, Head of Directorate Services and Special Projects
Liz is a founder member of Global Advancement and manages the Director’s Office which has significantly grown since the department was first set up in 2002. Her role includes leading the professional administration of all Directorate Office activity and to manage large, specific projects for the Director such as the Honorary Awards Programme and the University Centenary Campaign. Liz established and is developing the Front of House service provision across the University along with VIP relationship management and supporting corporate events.
She has many years’ administrative experience in both academic and professional services departments including the Registrar and Pro-Vice-Chancellor’s offices.

Vanessa Walters, Director's Office Manager
Vanessa joined Global Advancement in April 2015 as the Front of House Senior Administrator supporting the development of the front facing public areas at Fulton House, Singleton Abbey and The Great Hall Box Office.
Since joining the team, her role has grown significantly with the recent appointment of Director’s Office Manager. Her role includes managing the professional administration in the Directorate, being the key contact with Finance and HR Business Partners for managers and colleagues and line-managing staff in the Director’s office, Front of House and Directorate support systems.

Nicholas Owen, Front of House Officer
Nicholas joined Global Advancement in September 2015 supporting the development of the front facing public areas at Fulton House, Singleton Abbey and The Great Hall box office.
Nick leads and manages a team of 15 Front of House student ambassadors and the University Switchboard Operator to ensure they provide consistent excellent customer service. His role also includes managing the Customer Service Excellence Award for the Directorate, developments for the University, staff development and training, merchandise sales and liaising with staff and clients for events.

Samantha Rees, Personal Assistant to the Director of Global Advancement
Samantha provides an organisational and administration management service to the Director and Central Marketing office. Joining the department in 2008, she has many years’ experience working in Secretarial and Personal Assistant roles in both the health and education sectors.

Cathy James, Systems Administrator
Cathy works part-time in the Director’s office and is responsible for maintaining the absence management system within the department. She also manages all sickness records and produces information such as contact lists and organisational charts for the use of Global Advancement staff.
