During this lecture, which is organised by The Learned Society of Wales, Professor John Davies, Emeritus Professor, Anglia Ruskin University and Visiting Professor, International Centre for Higher Education Management, will consider the challenges and opportunities faced by Universities around the world today.

Event summary: John L Davies, Emeritus Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Professor of Higher Education Management at Anglia Ruskin University, was previously Dean of the Graduate School at Anglia Polytechnic University and is currently Visiting Professor of Higher Education Management at the International Centre for Higher Education Management in the School of Management at Bath University.

He has been one of the leading commentators on European higher education since 1970 (as Principal Consultant with the OECD, the European Rectors Conference, and consulted to UNESCO, the Soros Foundation, the World Bank, the European Commission and to 30 government agencies for higher education, and to circa 75 universities globally).

He has been active nationally and internationally in establishing higher education management as a field of study in universities in UK and Europe. 


The Learned Society of Wales is a new national body, launched in May 2010, which is dedicated to the recognition and promotion of scholarship of international quality in all the major established disciplines of learning.
