Welsh International Alun-Wyn Jones and former Ospreys boss Sean Holley have wished Swansea University the best of luck ahead of their 2012 Welsh Varsity Shield battle at Wales Millennium Stadium tomorrow.
Both Alun-Wyn Jones and Sean Holley have been putting Swansea University rugby team through their paces during the past few weeks, to ensure that they are in the best shape possible to face Cardiff University on 2 May.
Sean Holley said: ‘‘I would like to wish all players at this year’s Welsh Varsity the best of luck and hope that everyone enjoys themselves and has a successful day.’’
Alun-Wyn Jones followed by saying: ‘‘Best of luck to Swansea University sports side for the 2012 Varsity.’’
The Welsh Varsity takes place every year between Swansea University and Cardiff University. Over 25 events to find the deserving winner of the Varsity Shield take place over the course of a week. The centrepiece rugby “head-to-head” match takes place on the Wednesday evening in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Over 14,500 spectators attended last year’s match.
Other sports represented include hockey, squash, badminton, lacrosse, rowing, golf, basketball, football, netball, fencing and an array of other sports including martial arts. This is a fundraising event with proceeds going to a number of worthy causes.
