School of Management and Chartered Institute of Marketing host debate for businesses on the future of marketing

WHAT skills do businessmen and women need to tackle the marketing challenges of the future?

Has social media changed the game forever, or is it still all about understanding your customer and your market?

Leading academics and practitioners will debate the future of marketing at an event at Swansea University later this month.

The University’s School of Management is hosting the Chartered Institute of Marketing event at the Haldane Building on November 20 at 6pm.

On the panel will be Professor Nigel Piercy, Professor of Marketing and Strategy and Dean of the School of Management. He has worked with many blue-chip companies and his most recent research has been on strategic marketing and the strategic sales function.

Professor Piercy said:“ Swansea University’s School of Management is delighted to be collaborating with the CIM on this event. By hosting the event and contributing to the panel discussion we will be able to share our academic expertise with local businesses as well as benefit from the input of some of the UK’s leading marketing practitioners. This event is just one way that we can support local SMEs and we look forward to welcoming both CIM members and non-members to the School.”

Also taking part is Roger Pride, Managing Partner for  international brand and marketing consultancy, Heavenly. He works with clients in all sectors in Wales and on place, tourism and economic development projects in London and New York.

Other panellists are Zara Cottle, director and head of communications at Equinox Communications and Professor Adrian Palmer, coordinator of Swansea University School of Management’s Marketing group. His recent research has focused on factors that lead to successful buyer-seller relationships  with a particular focus on tourism.
