A second year School of Management student has been offered a highly competitive internship with multinational corporation Nike. Alexander Dodd-Jones will be spending a year at the Netherlands HQ where he will be given the exceptional opportunity to gain experience of working within this dynamic and innovative global company.

Impressed with the calibre of all School of Management applicants, Nike took shortlisted candidates through a rigorous presentation and interview process before making their final decision. Alex will start his internship this month, before returning to Swansea in 2014 to complete his final year.

This internship marks the beginning of some exciting developments within the School of Management. The School is currently working to introduce six-month or one year industrial placements across its undergraduate portfolio. These placements will offer students the chance to combine practical work experience with academic study. Not only will students be more visible to potential employers but will also gain the skills required in the world of work which will be of huge value when searching for career options at the end of the degree.

Dean of the School of Management, Professor Nigel Piercy said “This is a huge opportunity for Alex and should be an inspiration for his fellow students. Nike made it clear that they only seek the “exceptional, the motivated and the innovative” for their internship schemes and we are delighted that they have found these qualities in our students.”
