Hooker Greg George, tight-head prop Sean McDonnell-Roberts, second row Jon Barley and number 8 Reuben Tucker will take the field with scrum-half Aled Thomas hoping to get off the subs bench to join his colleagues. All five play for club sides (Llanelli, Swansea and Cardiff) as well as their University team

The Wales Students will be taking on Germany in Heidelberg on Saturday 23rd February at 2.30pm.

As part of the development of student rugby in Wales, last season saw the re-introduction of the Wales Students National Team for the first time since 2004.

This was part of a series of developments within the student game that has also included the introduction of a Freshers League.

From last season's team who played against England Students, three players have now signed professional contracts with Welsh regions and a further four players have gone on to represent Wales Sevens.

This year's side will be hoping for similar progression rates following their games against Germany and England Students. The Wales students team take on England Students at Rodney Parade on March 17 kick-off 1pm.

The National level experience and training l will help the Swansea University players in their preparation for the forthcoming Welsh Varsity match.

The battle between Swansea University and Cardiff University for the Varsity shield takes place every year. This year’s Varsity match kicks off at 7.30pm on Wednesday 24th April.

Over 25 events to find the deserving winner of the Shield take place over the course of a week. The centrepiece rugby “head-to-head” match takes place on the Wednesday evening in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Over 15,000 spectators attended last year’s match.

Other sports represented include hockey, squash, badminton, lacrosse, rowing, golf, basketball, football, netball, fencing and an array of other sports including martial arts. This is a fundraising event with proceeds going to a number of worthy causes.

With just over two months to go until the big day, organisers are expecting tickets to be snapped up quickly by students, alumni and rugby fans.

Tickets are on public sale now priced at £15 and £12.50 for students.
