A university course recognised by the CIPR is one where the CIPR have looked at the content to ensure that it covers essential public relations skills and knowledge, and checked who is teaching on it to ensure a suitable background in PR. The CIPR also looks for evidence that the course tutors are working with PR networks and employers in their region, both to keep content fresh and to offer opportunities for students to meet professionals and work on real projects as they study.

Swansea’s department of Media and Communication offers undergraduate courses in Media and Communication and Public Relations, as well as MA courses in PR, Digital Media, and International Journalism. Over the past two years, the department has received 100% for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey.‌

Dr Sian Rees, head of the department of department of Media and Communication, said: “We are really delighted to achieve accreditation for these courses. This means that the CIPR has confidence in our courses as a really valuable professional route to a successful career in public relations.  As a department we align all our courses closely with industry, aiming to produce the communications and media production managers of the future”.
