Medical School Research Facilities
The Medical School enjoys unrivalled research facilities housed across 3 modern, state of the art buildings (the Institute of Life Science 1 and ILS 2 and the DataScience building). These facilities include modern research laboratories equipped with the latest instrumentation for biomolecular analysis (confocal microscopy, high content imaging, flow cytometry suite, mass spectrometry, DNA sequencing facility, bioinformatics capability, etc).
In addition, through facilities in ILS2 and the DataScience building, we have fantastic research infrastructure for health informatics research and health services research. In REF2014, we achieved a 100% 4* score for Research Environment, which included (but was not limited to) our excellent real estate and research infrastructure
These major facilities enable delivery of research and innovation across the 4 major Research Themes of the School: Biomarkers & Genes, Devices, Microbes and Immunity and Patient & Population Health and Informatics.
