Other types of leave
The University is committed to supporting you if you wish to undertake training and development that benefits both you and the performance of the institution. Support towards further study may include time off to attend classes and examinations, financial contributions to fees and resources. You can discuss eligibility and possibilities for study leave with your line manager.
Sabbatical Leave and Leave of Absence
The University recognises that you may wish to take sabbatical leave so that you are free to pursue further research that contributes to your School’s Research Strategy and its submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). Sabbatical leave can be granted with or without pay, depending on eligibility. The length of sabbatical leave is also flexible.
You also may be eligible to apply for leave of absence in order to work in other institutions in an advisory or consultation role.
