Description

As a student on the Master's course in Civil Engineering, you will find the course utilises the expertise of academic staff to provide high-quality postgraduate training.

Entry Requirements

Usually the entry requirements for the MSc Civil Engineering is a first or second class honours degree in Civil Engineering or a similar relevant engineering or science discipline. You will also need to have an overall mark of at least 55%, however performance in key modules will also be considered.

We welcome applications by prospective students from around the world and look for evidence of previous study that is equivalent to the entry requirements stated above. If English is not your first language you will need an acceptable pass in an approved English Language qualification to make sure you get the full benefit from studying at Swansea. We consider a wide range of qualifications, including the Swansea University English Test, the British Council IELTS test (with a score of at least 6.5 and 5.5 in each component). Tuition Fees

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2018/19 are as follows:

Additional Costs

The tuition fees for the MSc Civil Engineering course do not cover costs incurred personally by the student such as the purchase of books or stationery, printing or photocopying costs.

Accreditation

MSc Civil Engineering at Swansea University is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), which is composed of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), and the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE). The accreditation is on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirements for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Accreditation is a mark of assurance that the degree meets the standards set by the Engineering Council in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). An accredited degree will provide you with some or all of the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills as a Chartered Engineer. Some employers recruit preferentially from accredited degrees, and an accredited degree is likely to be recognised by other countries that are signatories to international accords.
