A high-achieving student has celebrated the award of her Master of Science (MSc) in Management from Swansea University today (Thursday, January 26), after gaining the highest marks in her class.

Emma Slade Twenty-three-year-old Emma Slade, who lives in Neath, graduated with an MSc with Distinction from the College of Business, Economics and Law, at the University’s Winter Degree and Award Congregations, held in Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall.

In 2010, Emma graduated with a first class honours degree in Social Policy and Criminology at Swansea and also received a prize for her studies.

She then joined the School of Business and Economics to study for a ‘conversion’ style MSc programme in Management, which is open to graduates from non-business subjects.

PhD supervisor, Professor Mike Williams, said: “In this programme Emma has excelled, achieving not just the best marks of her cohort, but a distinction in both parts of her course.  As a result of her academic excellence she has been awarded a PhD studentship to continue her studies in the School of Business and Economics.”

Emma said: “I am so thrilled to be here with my family to receive my MSc today.  I am now working towards my PhD, which is about innovation adoption, and am combining my studies with a new role at the University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.”
