Swansea University’s College of Medicine has marked Autism Awareness month by announcing a new taught Master of Science degree course in Autism and Related Conditions will be offered in the next academic year 2013/14.

The course, which is subject to validation, is aimed at all healthcare professionals from GPs, nurses and allied health professions to special educational needs (SEN) workers and psychologists. The course aims to look at the diagnosis and assessment processes as well as exploring the impact of living with and managing autism and related conditions.

Dr Gareth Noble, the College of Medicine’s Director of Taught Masters said: “Autism and its related conditions are lifelong conditions, and this programme development is in response to the need for educational opportunities to support all professionals involved in the provision of Autism related services or have an academic interest in Autism. ”
