Swansea University hosts International Brass Band Summer School

The international Brass Band Summer School is holding its 23rd annual course this week at Swansea University.

The course has been established and run under the leadership of Dr Robert and Dr Nicholas Childs. During the course, players from all over the world including Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Austria, Luxembourg, Denmark, America and of course, the UK will receive expert tuition from leading instrumentalists from the famous Black Dyke and Cory bands.

The week long residential Brass Band course will culminate in a free Gala Concert at the University’s Fulton House on Friday 9 August at 7pm. 

The Gala Concert will feature classical favourites including the Grand March from Aida as well as the music of contemporary composers such as Peter Graham and Karl Jenkins. The programme will also include marches, popular light music and contributions from world renowned soloists. The concert will end with a massed band featuring over one hundred players performing ‘The Pines of Rome’.
