Sharon Williams at Gothenburg‌Dr Sharon Williams, who is working at the College of Human and Health Sciences as a Health Foundation Improvement Science Fellow, attended the Improvement Science Symposium, which is part of the International Forum for Quality and Safety in Healthcare held last month (April) in Gothenburg.

Dr Williams’ work was one of just four abstracts to be accepted for presentation at the Symposium. Her research, entitled “Redesigning the COPD pathway: What can we learn from supply chain management?” explores the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) pathway from the perspectives of patients and healthcare professionals.

Dr Williams said: “I was delighted to attend the event and deliver a presentation as this is one of the largest quality and safety in healthcare international conferences for researchers and healthcare professionals.

"I was able to demonstrate the links between my supply chain research in other industries and the design of information and emotional flows in the COPD pathway.”
