Student Nursing Times Awards: Swansea team shortlisted in four categories

Swansea University entries have been shortlisted in four categories for the 2017 Student Nursing Times Awards, which celebrate the best in nurse education.

Nursing is taught at Swansea University’s College of Human and Health Sciences, which is the largest provider of health care education in Wales.

Swansea University entries for the awards have made the shortlist for:

  • Nurse Education Provider of the Year (pre-registration)
  • Return to Practice Course of the Year
  • Adult Student of the Year – Michelle Bowen
  • Educator of the Year – Debbie Rowberry

300 x 234The University won the Return to Practice Course of the Year in 2015 and the Pre-registration Nurse Education Provider of the Year in 2014.

The Student Nursing Times Awards recognise and reward brilliant educational establishments and honours those who are committed to developing new nursing talent as mentors, lecturers and providers of placements.

The awards also pay tribute to students who have demonstrated the academic achievement, clinical prowess and personal qualities that will make them brilliant nurses.

The awards have had a recording breaking year with more than 400 talented student nurses, education providers, and mentors entering.  

Finalists will now present to members of the 34-strong panel of esteemed educational professionals.

Winners will be announced on 27 April 2017 at an event in London, where over 650 nurse education professionals, student nurses and nurse leaders will gather to reward the students and establishments shaping the future of nursing.

Nursing at Swansea

The College of Human and Health Sciences draws together the disciplines of health, nursing, midwifery, social care, social policy and psychology. 

The College has a number of multipurpose rooms, within practice suites, available for simulation both at its Swansea and St David’s Campus.

These include nursing bays which can be set up to replicate and mimic real hospital and community environments.
