Strategic Development Team

Swansea University is growing at a tremendous rate with an ambitious Strategic Plan and ever increasing pool of opportunities to prioritise and develop.  The Strategic Development Team within the Unit is responsible for working alongside the Senior Management Team to provide a framework to support the coordination, development and visibility of a range of strategic opportunities that will contribute to the delivery of the University Strategy.

Working in partnership with the colleges and PSUs, the Strategic Development team support the progression of strategic opportunities, ensuring all projects have the appropriate project management structures, processes and documentation in place; resolving and escalating issues, unblocking obstacles and drafting business plans to ensure the opportunity has the best chance to progress successfully to the implementation stage. Strategic opportunities are those that will have the potential to deliver step-change growth in the scale and quality of University business and will often have a significant impact on regional economic growth.

Recently the team has worked on a wide range of projects including the development of Swansea University Bay Campus, European Investment Bank fund application, Computational Foundry, Natural Resources Wales co-location and collaboration; and the reintroduction of both a School of Education and a Chemistry Department at Swansea University
