Swansea University’s Oriel Science Pop-up exhibition, “The Story of Time”, will be opening to the public later this month.

Oriel ScienceOriel Science’s mission will be to bring the wonders of Science to the public through exhibitions on a general science theme, which will inspire visitors to think and explore how science and technology impact their daily lives.

The first exhibition will delve into the depths of Time. Guarded by the Tardis and a ‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean, visitors will be able to meander through, interact with, listen, look, touch and generally play around with exhibits all about Time. Some of the highlights include a mock-up of CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, videos of a Greenland glacier calving, a hands-on exhibit about telling time with tree rings, time travel with black holes, a 30 metre time wall illustrating the history of the Universe, and an immersive video installation with a soundtrack from the Voyager spacecraft’s Plasma Wave instrument, where visitors can hear the “sounds” of deep space.

Time is the first Oriel Science pop up exhibition, and our vision is for a permanent Science exhibition space in Swansea which will house rolling thematic exhibitions.

There will be a launch event for Oriel Science on 10th September to coincide with the British Science Festival’s Family Weekend with the venue opening to the public later in the month. Swansea University are hosting the British Science Festival this year.

The Time exhibition is located in Swansea City centre; Princess Way, (between Castle Square and The Kingsway, next to Zinco Lounge), all details can be found on the website:
