We are a large and thriving discipline with a wide variety of historical interests, and in 2008 the Research Assessment Exercise confirmed that we are the leading history department in Wales. The combination of teaching and research is at the heart of our work. Students at Swansea tackle a range of historical subjects and periods with teachers who are experts in those fields. We are dedicated to helping every individual student achieve to the best of their ability.

It is our aim that our students leave not just with a good degree but also with a better understanding of how the past has shaped the world they live in and with memories of an excellent student experience.
