Deciding to go to university is a big step in your child’s journey toward independence and although this is an exciting time, we understand that it can also be challenging. At Swansea, we believe that there is no better way to learn about the university than by you and your child experiencing an open day for yourselves.

This page informs parents and guardians about what to expect at an open day. In addition to this, you can join our parents and guardians community to receive more helpful tips and advice for your child.

Open Day Advice for Parents and Guardians

What happens at an open day?

During your visit you'll have an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the university and take a look at everything we have to offer.

The following is a list of just some of the many activities that are available during an open day:
- Attend a welcome talk from the Vice Chancellor.
- Join a campus tour to explore our beautiful campuses by the beach. Campus Tours will be running throughout the day and no booking is required in advance.
- Attend subject sessions from our academic staff – please note to attend a subject session, booking in advance is required.*
- Find out more about the accommodation we offer at Swansea University by exploring one of our accommodation tours that run throughout the day.

* To sign up to our subject sessions, please book your place for one of our upcoming open days and we will be in touch with further information and guidance.

Our Information Hub

Come visit one of our information hubs during the open day, where our friendly members of staff can help answer any questions you may have on a variety of topics including disability and wellbeing, money advice (including NHS bursary questions), employability and admissions.

Accommodation

There are a number of accommodations options open for viewing on both campuses during an open day and no booking is required beforehand. Come visit us at one of our open days to explore the wide range of accommodation options. You will be spoilt for choice when deciding where your child will call their home away from home at Swansea University.

Both campuses have a variety of food options available. Whether you are seeking out a place to lunch or just want a break during the day, there are plenty of places to eat on campus.

Plan your journey

Before setting off to one of our open days, planning your journey beforehand will make the trip to Swansea smooth and relaxing.

Swansea University spans two stunning campuses; Singleton Park Campus and Bay Campus. Singleton Park Campus overlooks Swansea Bay beach and is set in mature parkland and botanical gardens. Bay Campus is situated along the beach on the eastern entrance into Swansea.
