Tim Morgan PhD student Swansea University

Tim Morgan, a PhD student at Swansea University who has recently transferred from MRes, has received a special award from Green Primary Care Wales.

Green Primary Care Wales has awarded Tim the Environmental Hero 2022 award. Tim has undertaken extra research into sustainability, which has included a foot-printing course through the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. The focus of his PhD at Swansea University is to examine greater sustainability in optometric services, with the proposed title of his PhD being:

"Exploring key performance indicators (KPI’s) for social and global responsibilities in Primary Care Contractor Optometry – the potential measures and the impacts/costs to the practice."

Tim is passionate about creating greater sustainability in optometric services by encouraging clinicians and patients to think about the carbon footprint of their eyecare.

Tim’s passion and commitment to studying the subject in greater depth has been recognised through this prestigious award. Tim is supervised by Dr Roderick Thomas, Dr Emily Bacon and Dr Dan Rees. We are delighted to be supporting Tim on his PhD journey.

Dr Emily Bacon and Dr Roderick Thomas said “It’s been a pleasure to support Tim’s enthusiasm for incentivising this sustainable change. Tim is passionate about creating change in the optometric service in Wales, and has already impacted positively on his organisation by making operational changes. We are excited to see the further impact of Tim’s work’’.

Big Congratulations from all of Swansea University.
