Swansea University is proud to announce the winners of this year's Excellence in Learning and Teaching Awards.

The prestigious awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional efforts of faculty members who have made a significant impact on the student learning experience. Among the distinguished recipients are Bryan Collings, Jafar Ojra, Helen Williams, and Sarah Owens from the School of Management.

The Swansea Excellence Awards for Learning and Teaching (ELTA), Student Support (ESSA), and Team Teaching (ETTA) are presented annually to educators who have demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to fostering a positive and enriching learning environment for their students.

To be considered for these awards, recipients must first be nominated by at least two students. After the nominations are gathered, they are carefully evaluated by a panel consisting of representatives from various academic and administrative departments, including the Student Union. This year's panel included prominent figures such as Professor Deborah Youngs, PVC for Education, and Esyllt Rosser, President of the Student Union.

This year's panel had the challenging task of selecting 15 exceptional educators from a pool of highly commendable nominations across the University. The awards aim to achieve several key objectives, including giving public recognition to the importance Swansea University places on the quality of teaching and learning support, encouraging reflective practices among staff, and providing students with a significant voice in determining the recipients of this esteemed honour.

Bryan Collings, one of the award winners, expressed his gratitude and humility, acknowledging the students' active engagement as a driving force behind the success of his class collaboration. "It is a credit to the students that their engagement resulted in such a positive experience for us all," he said.

Dr. Helen Williams, another deserving awardee, was deeply moved by the recognition bestowed upon her. "Receiving a student-nominated award like this is truly humbling. It makes all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes truly worth it," she stated. She also emphasised the importance of teamwork and the support she receives from her colleagues, noting that every student, regardless of their background, has the potential to make a positive impact on the world through education.

The Swansea Excellence Awards for Learning and Teaching serve as a testament to the dedication and passion of the university's faculty in nurturing the intellectual growth and development of their students. Through their unwavering commitment to excellence, these educators have left an indelible mark on the lives of their students and contributed to the overall reputation of Swansea University as a center of academic excellence.

Congratulations once again to all the winners of the Excellence in Learning and Teaching Awards. Their exemplary contributions inspire and motivate the entire university community to strive for greatness in their pursuit of knowledge and educational excellence.
