Welcome to the Department of Geography at Swansea University, part of the School of the Environment and Society

Our aim is to be one of the foremost international centres for research in human and physical geography, and to provide our students with excellent teaching in a friendly atmosphere. Our students voted Swansea the "Best Student Experience" in the UK, and we take pride in offering our students intellectually exciting courses and a great campus life in a vibrant city by the sea.

In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 95% of Swansea's research in Geography was judged to be of international quality, and 60% was regarded as world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).

We host a large and stimulating community of postgraduate researchers studying for PhD degrees, and run one-year MSc courses in Environmental Dynamics and Climatic Change, Migration and International Development, Social Research and the MA in Human Geography.  We hope that you will find everything you need to know about our Department on this website but please contact us if you require any additional information about our research and teaching.
